Yesterday I found out that I had won the Best in Category Award from the McMurray Art League in the Spring Show at the Galleria Mall in Mt. Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh. It is exciting to have a very reputable juror and fellow artist, (Mr. Barry Jeeter) recognize your work and award you for a painting that is truly a story. I can’t discuss the exact specifics of the story of this painting. I can only say that it was of a woman close to my heart. She was a woman from another era where women were denigrated and made to feel small. She was often abused mentally and kept firmly under the control of her man. Yes, she was bent, but she was never, never broken and amazingly, the love and kindness that was in heart was never diminished by the forces stifling her. Yes, she truly represented a model of what the Me Too movement is all about.
