I can’t discuss the exact specifics of the story of this painting. I can only say that it was of a woman close to my heart. She was a woman from another era where women were denigrated and made to feel small. She was often abused mentally and kept firmly under the control of her man. Yes, she was bent, but she was never, never broken and amazingly, the love and kindness that was in her heart was never diminished by the forces stifling her. Yes, she truly represented a model of what the Me Too movement is all about. Bent Not Broken won Best in Category at the juried Spring McMurray Art League Show. It was juried into the Biennial in Loretto Museum of Art, The Summer Exhibition at the Stuart Museum of Art and to an online virtual juried exhibition.
